As full-time workers, we all know the challenge of balancing vacation dreams with limited annual leave. But did you know that by strategically lining up your leave with public holidays, you can stretch your time off and get a little more bang for your buck without dipping too far into your leave balances?
For 2025, here’s how Australians can get 50 days of leave with only 20 days off:
- 28th to 31st January (4 days)
- Get 9 days off for the Australia Day public holiday.
- 22nd to 24th April (3 days)
- Enjoy a whopping 10 days off for Easter and Anzac Day.
- Labour Day & King’s Birthday
- Book 4 days off around your state’s Labour Day and King’s Birthday celebrations, and get two 9-day breaks.
- 30th & 31st December (2 days)
- Get 8 days off, or add 22nd to 24th December (3 days) for a full 13-day break.
Bonus Tip: If you’re lucky enough to have more than four weeks of paid time off, each state typically has an additional bank holiday. For example, Western Australia Day is on June 2nd, meaning you can take June 3rd to 6th (4 days) off for 9 days of relaxation.
Now that you’ve got your 2025 holiday planning sorted, don’t forget to book early and make the most of those extended weekends! Let us know how you plan to use your leave – happy travels and enjoy your well-deserved time off!
