World Tourism Day 2019

This Friday the 27th September is World Tourism Day which seems like an important thing to talk about on a travel blog!

This day is not as made up as it sounds, it is actually designated by the United Nation and is the day that the World Tourism Day conference is held.

According to the UN, tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in the world, benefiting communities worldwide and accounting for 10% of global gross domestic profit (GDP).

World Tourism Day is meant to bring awareness to the importance of tourism in contributing to the welfare and development of may destinations, but this comes with balancing the impacts of increased visitors and infrastructure needs. Previous years have focused on the issues of sustainability, biodiversity and diversity.

The theme for 2019 is “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All” and will focus on the unique ability for tourism to create jobs and therefore a better future for many people around the world. This year the conference will be held in New Dehli, India.
