Melbourne Bars and Breweries

Last month we spent a week in Melbourne and visited a lot of great bars and breweries. Here are some suggestions if you find yourself in the Victorian Capital.

Urban Alley Brewpub
Star Circus Docklands

This is a great bar to stop at especially if you have just done some shopping in the outlets. There are cosy booth seating as well as a nice big fireplace for chilly days.

Tallboy & Moose
270 Raglan Street, Preston

This brewery is located in a converted warehouse and is very open and airy. They offer a great selection of Scottish inspired dishes too.

Beer DeLuxe
Federation Square, Melbourne

Very well located, this bar offers both upstairs and downstairs seating. You can even order food right from your table! They also do a great lemon lime and bitters.

Bodriggy Brewing Co
245 Johnston Street, Abbortsford

This brand new brewery is located inside an old automotive shop. It has one of the most impressive fit-outs I have ever seen, and the fanciest toilets of any bar in Australia. I can imagine it will look even more impressive once the indoor plants establish themselves.

Stomping Ground Brewing Co
100 Gipps Street, Collingwood

Another converted warehouse with an open and airy atmosphere. You can sit right next to the tanks and watch as they monitor the beer.

Garden State Hotel
101 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

We only stopped in here briefly but the amazing garden is worth a mention. The atrium-style courtyard is a great place to spend some time, and even though there is tons of seating you feel very cosy at your table.

Where are some of your favourite places for a drink in Melbourne?
