Movie Playlist: Travel Destinations

With travel plans cancelled, and in fact almost all plans cancelled, one of the few options we still have to explore the world is through movies. Travel destinations often provide stunning backgrounds for characters to interact and in many cases the destination can become a character in itself. This list gives you some inspiration for movies either filmed in or set in a popular travel destination

  • Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Hawaii)
  • In Bruges (Bruges, Belgium – one of the reasons we went to Bruges!)
  • Before Sunrise (Vienna)
  • Before Sunset (Paris)
  • Before Midnight (Greece)
  • Midnight in Paris (Paris)
  • Crazy Rich Asians (Singapore)
  • Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood (Hollywood/LA)
  • Red Dog (Pilbara, Western Australia)
  • Girls Trip (New Orleans)
  • The Castle (Melbourne, Australia)
  • Notting Hill (London – specifically, Notting Hill of course!)
  • The Hangover (Las Vegas)
  • La La Land (LA)
  • Columbus (Columbus, Indiana)
  • Forrest Gump (film locations include Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina)
  • The Fault in Our Stars (Amsterdam)
  • The Parent Trap (1998) (California & London)
  • Hunt for the Wilderpeople (New Zealand)
  • Aladdin (Jordan)
  • Scott Pilgrim vs the World (Toronto, Canada)

  1. I think I have seen all but maybe 8 of these movies. I will have to look them up on Netflix or Prime. I really loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall, one of my favourites. Thanks for the list! There was one filmed in Tuscany that I liked, it was called Under the Tuscan Sun, you might like it.
