Driving through Florida to Tallahassee

After our short stop in Savannah, Georgia we filled our car with fuel and headed on the road towards Amelia Island, Florida. This would be our last stop on the East Coast before waving goodbye to the North Atlantic Ocean and heading west. It was a beautiful sunny day so the sand at Main Beach Park was gloriously bright and there were lots of people enjoying the great weather, including the turtles!

We didn’t have time to stay long so after a little stroll by the water we headed over to the Fernandina Beach location of Moon River Pizza for their award winning slices. I went for a Maui “WOW”EE and a Vegetarian but sadly ended up dropping half of the vegetarian on the floor seconds after I took my photo!

We then carried on to Tallahassee by zig-zagging back and forth across the Florida/Georgia state line. At one point the road became sand and gravel again. This felt like one of the most rural roads so far on our trip since starting in Boston but our trusty hire car got us through. There looked to be a lot of holiday-makers on the road and we even saw a trailer towing a car towing a bike.

We arrived in Tallahassee by the afternoon and checked into our hotel The Four Points by Sheraton Tallahassee Downtown. Then it was time for running a few errands, my backpack zipper had broken so we went to Target to get a new bag and stock up on some yummy treats. We also went through Barnes & Noble to find a book to read. In the B&N there was a Lego Architecture stand and we realised that we have actually been to every single place on the shelf. It made us feel grateful of all the amazing places we had been.

For dinner we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and I tried a grilled chicken sandwich with pepperjack cheese which I had never had before. It was yummy but a little spicy!
