An evening out in Northbridge

Last month we spent an evening out in Northbridge. This is an area directly north of the Perth CBD and has a lot of dining and entertainment options.

We started at The Palace Arcade. This is a nice little bar that is full of old school arcade games. You can load up a swipe card and then play on any of the machines you like. They have the classics like Pac-man, Space Invaders and Super Mario, plus some pinball machines and other generic shooter games. We didn’t eat here but you can order pizza and other snacks.

Once we had played enough games at Palace we went to Ezra Pound which is just off William Street down a very funky lane way. I would love to have a house one day that has a patio area with the same feel as this lane way.

After a drink we went for a walk around looking for street art. There is heaps to be found within a couple of blocks as you can see.

After our short stroll we lined up to get dinner at the Authentic Bites Dumpling House. I can see why this place gets so popular that you have to line up, as the food is all fresh and delicious. We ordered spring rolls and potato salad (which is actually made from grated potatoes, I have never tried that before!) followed by pork buns, vegetable and kimchi and pork dumplings. We ordered way too much food and were so full! but everything was so tasty we wanted to keep eating. I will definitely be going back to this place to try some rice and noodle dishes.

We then went to The Mechanics Institute for another drink where we got a choc mint milkshake IPA – yummy! Even though it was the middle of winter the rain thankfully held off and we were able to stay dry for the evening. It was starting to get chilly and Mechanics has great outdoor heaters to keep you warm.

Once we had enough room for dessert we walked over to Pretzel where I got a Nutella pretzel. They are so delicious but also very very messy! There are plenty of seats around or there are the steps between the Library and art institute where you can sit and relax.

We had parked in the State Library Parking which was only $10 or if you catch the train in it is just a short walk back to the main Perth train station.
